How to become a member of the Fond St Jacques Credit Union

Becoming a Member or Depositor

To become a member/owner of the Fond St. Jacques Credit Union, one must:

  • Be over the age of sixteen
  • Be a resident of Soufriere/ Fond St. Jacques, or have ties with Soufriere/ Fond St. Jacques (birth, spouse, own property, parents, works etc.).
  • Have at least one valid form of Picture Identification
  • Provide names of Beneficiaries and percentage of distribution
  • Complete a membership application form (available at the Fond St Jacques Credit Union or on this website)
  • Payment of:
    • $10.00 for entrance fees
    • At least $5.00 for ordinary shares
    • At least $100.00 to purchase Permanent/Equity shares. Special permission can be granted to save to reach this amount over an agreed period.

Becoming a Depositor

Depositors are persons or organisations who are non-members but wish to maintain accounts with the credit union. They are allowed to save and do withdrawals but are not entitled to the other benefits/services of being a member such as loans, dividends, patronage refunds, voting rights and more.  Please note that persons under the age of sixteen, groups and organisations can be Depositors. Upon the attainment of age 16 years, one can convert their account to a member's account once they purchase at least $100 worth of permanent shares.
